techniques, in-situ testing, image analysis, and applications in geotechnical engineering,
environmental science, and materials characterization.

Title: SPAM: An Open-Source Software for Quantitative 3D + Time Image Analysis

Abstract:
This talk will present SPAM (Software for the Practical Analysis of Materials) —an
open-source Python software developed for quantitative analysis of 2D images and
3D volumes, especially in mechanics-oriented applications. The software has been
widely applied to X-ray and neutron tomography data, and features a powerful suite
of tools for morphological analysis and Digital Volume Correlation (DVC).
Example applications will be presented across diverse materials (granular, cohesive,
fabric) and physical processes (bio-, hydro-, and chemo-mechanics). The talk will also
include live demonstrations to illustrate how SPAM can be used in real-time analysis
workflows.
