R6.08.20 令和６年８月１６日に、熊本大学工学部1号館328会議室で、河川の自然再生をテーマとした熊本大学-清華大学合同シンポジウムを開催しました。シンポジウムでは、張浩教授と石田桂准教授が熊本大学における河川の再生技術と水分野におけるAIの活用に関する最新の研究を紹介しました。清華大学地球系科学研究科のLu Hui教授が気候変動、リモートセンシング、河川の自然再生に関する同大学の研究を紹介しました。また、両大学間の今後の交流と連携について議論を行いました。シンポジウム前後には、柳川の掘割再生事業、白川の環境再生事業、緑川の伝統河川工法、球磨川の水害復興現場への見学会も実施しました。

Aug. 20, 2024 The Kumamoto-Tsinghua Joint Symposium on Ecological Restoration of Rivers: Experience and Progress was held in Meeting Room 328, Engineering Building No.1 at Kumamoto University on August 16, 2024. Prof. Hiroshi Cho and Associate Prof. Kei Ishida from Kumamoto University introduced the latest research activities related to river restoration and applications of AI in hydrology in Japan. Prof. Lu Hui from the Department of Earth System Science at Tsinghua University gave a special lecture on the university's research in climate change, remote sensing, and river restoration. Before and after the symposium, field trips were arranged to several river basins, including the canal restoration sites in Yanagawa City, the river environment restoration sites along the Shira River, the traditional river works along the Midori River, and the flood disaster reconstruction sites along the Kuma River. Attendees discussed future academic exchanges and joint research between the two universities.
