R6.10.02 令和6年10月2日、研究室ゼミに京都大学熊本県同窓会会長で宗岳寺住職の堀田雪心氏をお招きし、「よみがえれ、美しき能登の里山里海 ～2024能登半島地震災害ボランティア体験記～」という特別講演を行っていただきました。
能登半島は今年元日に大きな地震と津波に襲われ、甚大な被害を受けました。震災復興の最中、台風14号から変わった温帯低気圧や活発な秋雨前線によって発生した線状降水帯の影響で、9月21日から23日にかけて記録的な豪雨が発生しました。堀田会長は震災後、ボランティアとして能登半島で様々な復興活動に参加し、独自の視点から能登半島の風景、文化、災害の実態、復興の課題、ボランティア活動の詳細についてお話しくださいました。講演後、堀田会長は研究室メンバーと活発な議論を行いました。研究室メンバーにとって、これは震災と水害の悲惨さを知る貴重な機会であると同時に、ボランティア活動に関する知識を深め、災害研究の重要性を一層認識する刺激となりました。

Oct. 2, 2024 On October 2, 2024, Mr. Sesshin Horita, the president of the Kumamoto Prefecture Alumni Association of Kyoto University and the chief priest of Sougaku-ji Temple, was invited to our laboratory seminar to deliver a special lecture titled "Revive the Beautiful Satoyama and Satoumi of Noto: 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake Disaster Volunteer Experience."
The Noto Peninsula was struck by a devastating earthquake and tsunami on New Year's Day this year, causing extensive damage. During the recovery efforts, record-breaking rainfall occurred from September 21 to 23, driven by linearly-shaped precipitation zones influenced by a temperate low-pressure system that developed from Typhoon No. 14 (Pulasan) and an active autumn rain front. President Horita participated in various recovery activities on the Noto Peninsula as a volunteer. He shared his unique insights on the landscape, culture, the realities of the disaster, recovery challenges, and the details of volunteer efforts during the seminar. Following the lecture, he engaged in lively discussions with the members of our laboratory. For us, this was not only a valuable opportunity to understand the severity of the earthquake and flooding but also a chance to deepen our knowledge of volunteer activities and recognize the importance of disaster research, providing significant inspiration.
